As per reports, a transport strike is scheduled for Thursday (24 July) and Friday (25 July) in Peru, primarily organized by informal and unauthorized transport guilds alongside the National Association of Drivers of Peru (Asociación Nacional de Conductores del Perú) with the aim of protesting regulatory enforcement actions and operational restrictions.
Authorities have been urged to enhance oversight through Sutran (Superintendency of Land Transportation of Persons, Cargo, and Merchandise) to prevent illegal transport activities, particularly in regions already vulnerable to organized crime targeting transport operators, including Lima, Trujillo, Arequipa, and Chiclayo.
