Situational update on plane crash reported near Pampulha Airport on Monday (04 May)

As per reports, on Monday (04 May), at approximately 1225 hours local time (1525 hours UTC), a small single engine aircraft crashed into the parking area of a residential building on Ilacir Pereira Lima Street in the Silveira neighbourhood, located in the Northeast Region of Belo Horizonte.

• The aircraft had taken off shortly before the incident from Pampulha Airport, situated approximately five kilometres from the crash site.
• Prior to the crash, the pilot reportedly communicated with the control tower at Pampulha Airport, indicating technical difficulties during takeoff on Monday (04 May).
• According to the Minas Gerais Military Fire Department, five individuals were on board the aircraft at the time of the crash, including the pilot, co pilot, and three passengers.
• Emergency responders, including fire services, the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu), and the Military Police, were deployed to the site, with fire department teams arriving at approximately 1225 hours local time (1525 hours UTC).
• The Civil Police of Minas Gerais has initiated an investigation into the causes and circumstances of the crash, with forensic teams deployed and the deceased being sent to the Medical Legal Institute Dr André Roquette for examination.
