As per reports, demonstrations in support of and against presidential candidates took place across Brazil on Sunday (18 October), one week before the presidential runoff election scheduled for Sunday (25 October).

• Supporters of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Senator Flávio Bolsonaro gathered in several cities as the candidates prepared for their first televised debate of the second round.
• Supporters, wearing Brazil’s national colours of yellow, green and blue, gathered along Paulista Avenue in São Paulo, where Senator Flávio Bolsonaro addressed the crowd.
• Supporters, wearing red associated with the Workers’ Party (PT), gathered in the square in front of government buildings in Brasília. Students supporting Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva also held a demonstration against Bolsonaro in Rio de Janeiro.
• The campaign remained closely contested ahead of the 25 October runoff. Both candidates sought to attract voters who had abstained in the first round on 04 October, when approximately 33 million eligible voters did not vote.
• A separate protest against Meta’s alleged interference in the electoral process was scheduled for Monday (19 October) outside the company’s headquarters in São Paulo.
