Situational update on Canadians advised to leave Lebanon – Thursday (27 June)

Risk level: Low Country: Lebanon

As per reports, Canadians have been urged to leave Lebanon due to escalating violence between Hezbollah and Israel, citing heightened volatility. The Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs advised Canadians to depart while commercial flights are available.

Assisted departures are not currently guaranteed. However, there are reports that in preparation for potential escalation, Canada’s military is readying plans to evacuate over 20,000 Canadians from Lebanon, contingent on allied support. Current preparations include maritime evacuation strategies to Cyprus, despite recent threats from Hezbollah against the island’s involvement.
