As per reports, motorcycle taxi drivers and transport unions in Piura, led by the Federation of Motorcycle Taxi Drivers of Piura and Multimodal Transport, will initiate a strike on Tuesday (12 November) to demand action against rising insecurity in the region.
• This work stoppage is a response to the perceived inaction of the State regarding increasing crime rates affecting transport operators and the general public.
• The unions have previously presented proposals to Congress, seeking effective measures against crime and the repeal of laws they believe benefit criminal organizations.
• The strike aims to highlight these issues and pressure the government for immediate support to enhance the safety of transport workers.
