As per reports, Metropolitan Municipality of Lima (MML) has placed the Historic Center of Lima on maximum alert on Wednesday (10 June) and deployed an extensive security, surveillance, and control operation amid concerns over potential protests and public mobilizations in the area.

• The measures were implemented under the direction of Mayor Renzo Reggiardo to safeguard public order and protect cultural heritage sites located within the city center.
• Municipal authorities reiterated that the Historic Center, which has been designated an intangible protected zone, prohibits the organization of marches, demonstrations, political gatherings, and other public assemblies.
• Preventive measures have been introduced to protect monuments, public squares, historic buildings, and other heritage assets from potential damage or disruption.
• As part of the operation, the Municipality’s Citizen Security Management, Inspection and Control Management, and Urban Mobility Management have established 24-hour patrols and monitoring activities across key locations including Plaza San Martín, Paseo de los Héroes Navales, Plaza de la Democracia, and surrounding areas.
• The deployment includes approximately 100 municipal personnel, comprising security officers, inspectors, and traffic management staff, supported by patrol vehicles, motorcycle units, drones, and an integrated surveillance network of nearly 1,000 security cameras capable of real-time monitoring.
• Municipal officials stated that any activity deemed to threaten public order, public safety, or the integrity of historical and cultural assets will be subject to strict monitoring and enforcement actions.
• Authorities further warned that legal proceedings and criminal complaints will be initiated against individuals involved in acts of vandalism, property damage, or disturbances affecting the Historic Center or members of the public.
