As per reports, a fire incident occurred at the Denver International Airport (DIA) on Tuesday (01 July) afternoon, following a lightning strike.
• The incident occurred around 1622 hours local time near 88th Avenue and Gun Club Road, west of the airfield.
• The fire was contained within an hour and did not directly impact airport operations.
• However, a ground delay had already been in effect since 1530 hours local time due to severe thunderstorms in the area, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
• The ground delay, expected to last until 2000 hours local time, caused average arrival delays of 62 minutes.
• As of 1730 hours local time, around 555 flights are reportedly delayed, primarily affecting services by Southwest Airlines and United Airlines.
