As per reports, significant disruption to flight operations at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), Boston, Massachusetts, is anticipated from Friday (25 September) to Sunday (27 September) due to a forecast nor’easter affecting the northeastern US.
• The storm is expected to bring high winds and heavy rainfall across the Northeast, with Massport (Massachusetts Port Authority) advising that delays and cancellations are likely anticipated throughout the weekend. As of the morning of Friday (25 September), reports state that there were more than 60 cancellations at Logan Airport, almost all involving Cape Air.
• The impact is expected to be particularly pronounced in Cape Cod, whereby winds of 50 miles per hour to 65 miles per hour and coastal flooding are forecast. However, Boston is expected to receive at least three inches of rainfall, with heavy rainfall forecast to move through the city on Saturday (26 September).
• Additionally, a high wind warning is in effect for Boston from Friday (25 September) through Sunday (27 September), with peak wind gusts forecast at 40 miles per hour to 55 miles per hour.
• As of Friday (25 September), JetBlue, United Airlines, and American Airlines have waived applicable change fees and fare differences for eligible travel booked between Friday (25 September) and Sunday (27 September). Delta Air Lines has reportedly permitted affected passengers to change their flights without additional charges through Tuesday (29 September).
