As per reports, operational disruptions have been reported at Fernando de Noronha Airport due to adverse weather conditions and ongoing infrastructure works on Monday (20 April).
• Rainfall during the morning hours affected flight operations, leading to delays, cancellations, and aircraft diversions.
• Although weather conditions later improved, many passengers continued to experience uncertainty regarding departure schedules. Airlines including Gol Linhas Aéreas, Azul Brazilian Airlines, and LATAM Airlines were impacted, with Gol reporting flight cancellations and diversions, while Azul and LATAM experienced delays.
• Passengers reported limited access to the terminal due to ongoing construction works, contributing to congestion and long queues.
• One diverted flight from São Paulo–Guarulhos International Airport was rerouted to Recife/Guararapes–Gilberto Freyre International Airport due to weather conditions.
• Authorities indicated that safety protocols, including restrictions on wet runway operations as guided by the National Civil Aviation Agency, contributed to the disruption.

Additionally, the Pernambuco State Secretariat for Mobility and Infrastructure stated that technical testing is underway, led by Infraero, to improve operational safety, with completion expected within approximately 20 days.
