As per reports, the Urban Transport Authority for Lima and Callao (ATU) has announced that, effective 08 July, all passengers using Lima and Callao Metro Line Two are scheduled to be required to access the system using the Interoperable Transport Card (Tarjeta Interoperable de Transporte – TIT).
• According to ATU, the cards are expected to be available for purchase from Wednesday (01 July) at ticket offices and automated vending machines located at the five operational stations: Evitamiento, Óvalo Santa Anita, Colectora Industrial, Hermilio Valdizán, and Mercado Santa Anita.
• The TIT is reportedly priced at PEN 7.50 and is expected to be sold during operating hours from 0600 hours local time (1100 hours UTC) to 2300 hours local time (0400 hours UTC).
• During the current operational phase, passengers are required to validate the TIT when entering and exiting stations; however, no fare is expected to be charged, and topping up the card will not be necessary. The ATU has further indicated that the cards incorporate encrypted security technology to reduce the risk of fraud and may store user validation records, top-up information, and passenger profile data.
