As per reports, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) has issued an air quality alert for northeast Minnesota due to wildfire smoke, which will remain in effect until Tuesday (13 May) at 1500 hours local time.
• Wildfires, including the Camp House and Jenkins Creek fires, have erupted in the Superior National Forest, approximately 25 miles north-northwest of Two Harbors.
• The Munger Shaw Fire is also burning north of Cloquet.
• Southerly winds are expected to carry smoke north, impacting air quality.
• The air quality is expected to reach the orange threshold, indicating unhealthy conditions for sensitive groups.
• Governor Tim Walz authorized the Minnesota National Guard to provide emergency assistance to help fight the Camp House wildfire in northern Minnesota.
