As per the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), an earthquake of magnitude 4.1 on the Richter Scale was recorded in the Arabian Sea at approximately 2151 hours (local time) on Friday (05 January).
It occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers under the sea, and was located 163 kilometers West of Nashik and Southwest of Surat. Weak tremors were reported along the Western coastline. No damage to property or casualties were reported.
