As per reports, a bomb threat email warning addressing the Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Somnath Temple, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office in Khanpur, Ahmedabad and BJP office in Koba, Gandhinagar, prompted high security alert across Gujarat on Monday (21 September).
• The email was initially received by the Punjab Police who then alerted the Gujarat Police about the threat.
• The email claimed that bombs had already been planted at several locations. The Gandhinagar State Intelligence Bureau and Gujarat Police reportedly launched security checks while Ahmedabad City Police were also directed to search vulnerable locations.
• Police and bomb squad personnel were sent to the locations, and security arrangements were strengthened.
• Thus far, no suspicious objects have been discovered and further details are currently awaited.
