As per reports, unidentified youths opened fire on workers attending the election rally of Congress candidate Gurjit Singh Aujla on Saturday (18 May). One youth was injured with a bullet wound. The injured youth has been admitted to a private hospital in Amritsar.

• Strict security measures have been implemented for the elections in Punjab to ensure the safety of candidates and attendees. Following the incident, the Ajnala police have launched an investigation.
