As per reports, Kershaw County fire crews were dispatched to Horry County to provide assistance with a large wildfire, one of over 100 that ignited across the state on Saturday (01 March) due to dry and windy conditions.

• The Kershaw County Fire Service dispatched personnel and one of its tankers to the Myrtle Beach area to assist with a large wildfire. Although specific details of the fire have not been provided, evacuations have occurred in the Walker Woods and Avalon neighborhoods in the Carolina Forest area.
• As of 1900 hours on Saturday (01 March), Horry County Fire Rescue was still responding to fires in the area, and International Drive remained closed.
• Temporary evacuations were implemented in Georgetown County but were later lifted. A significant fire was also reported in Charleston County.
• As of 1845 hours, a Red Flag Fire Alert remained in effect for several parts of South Carolina, advising against outdoor burning due to dry conditions and high winds. Later, the South Carolina Forestry Commission issued a statewide burning ban, following reports of at least 102 wildfire ignitions on Saturday (01 March).
• The South Carolina Forestry Commission’s active fire maps indicate wildfires in nearly every county across the state over the past several days, with many concentrated in the eastern counties, including parts of the Midlands such as Sumter, Lee, and Clarendon.
