According to reports, the Vidarbha Rajya Andolan Samiti (VRAS) organized a ‘Chakka Jam’ (blockade) protest at Reserve Bank Chowk on Monday (01 January) to demand a separate Vidarbha statehood. The protest saw the participation of a large number of leaders and activists from various districts of Vidarbha.

As the deadline passed without government action, activists intensified their efforts, causing road blockades at Samvidhan Chowk, resulting in a traffic jam on Monday. The police promptly intervened, removing the protestors. Activists have warned of escalating the agitation for an independent Vidarbha in the days ahead.
