As per reports, a major wildfire remains active near Pinhel, approximately 20 kilometres from the Spanish border in Guarda District, Portugal as of Wednesday (29 July).

• Reportedly, 4000-5000 hectares have been burned, and the fire has expanded to a perimeter of approximately 40 kilometers.
• Erratic winds caused multiple active fire fronts, prompting the precautionary evacuation of several homes in the Pinhel area, including residents of the village of Pinzio. Residents of Rabaça were also relocated to a local church as a precaution.
• A25 motorway and National Road 16 (EN16) were also reportedly closed on Tuesday (28 July). The A25 was reopened later in the day while assessments were underway to reopen EN16.
• Approximately 659 personnel and 206 vehicles were deployed as of Tuesday (28 July). As of approximately 2329 hours local time (2229 hours UTC), regional Civil Protection authorities stated that the wildfire was ‘practically under control’ after favourable conditions created a window of opportunity for containment operations.
