As per reports, a slow-moving truck protest is scheduled to take place in Portugal on Friday (25 September), in response to rising fuel prices.
• The protest is expected to begin at 0730 hours local time (0630 hours UTC) in the municipality of Paredes and will proceed towards Coimbra along a route of approximately 140 kilometres.
• More than 400 trucks are expected to participate, with organisers reporting that at least 100 companies have stated their participation. The protest is being organised by business owners operating in the materials extraction, earthmoving, excavation and soil-transport sectors.
• Participating vehicles are expected to travel at a very slow pace along the A42, A41 and A1 motorways, potentially causing significant reductions in traffic speeds and congestion along the affected corridor.
• The protest may result in prolonged journey times, traffic queues and temporary access difficulties for other road users. The action is expected to begin in Paredes and conclude in Coimbra, with the movement of more than 400 heavy vehicles likely to affect traffic conditions along the route throughout the protest period.
