As per reports, the Serviços Municipalizados de Transportes Urbanos de Coimbra (SMTUC) has announced a restructuring of Line 12 (Beira Rio – Taveiro/via Quinta das Bicas), effective from Tuesday (15 September).
• The restructuring includes a change of route, a new line designation, and revised timetables. The line will now circulate via Rua 9 de Dezembro, serving the Urbanização da Quinta das Bicas directly in both directions.
• A new bus stop is to be introduced under the viaduct on the EN341 road.
• Service frequency on weekdays is to be increased to approximately one circulation per hour per direction. A minor timetable adjustment is also expected for one weekend service.
• Vehicles operating on the line are to be replaced with midi-type buses, with approximately 21 seated and 30 standing places, considered more suitable for road conditions on the section between Rua Nova do Barreiro and Rua Engenheiro Júlio Araújo Vieira.
• Service changes will be monitored during the first month of implementation to allow adjustments based on demand. SMTUC has indicated that service will be further reinforced if demand warrants it.
