The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has not issued any district-level warning for Pune on Wednesday (15 July). Light rainfall is forecast across the city, while moderate rainfall at isolated places is expected over the Ghats of Pune.
The following are the latest situational updates regarding weather conditions and related disruptions in Pune:
• Rainfall intensity has eased considerably compared with the previous few days. However, intermittent rainfall or thunderstorms may still occur through Wednesday (15 July), with localized waterlogging possible in vulnerable and low-lying areas.
• Reservoir storage has improved following recent rainfall. The water level in major dams across Pune division increased significantly, while the irrigation department stated that there was no immediate plan to discharge water from any major dam. The Khadakwasla group of reservoirs also recorded increased storage after recent rainfall, and the earlier water discharge from Khadakwasla Dam into the Mutha River was stopped after levels stabilised.
• Connectivity is likely to remain affected for several villages after rainwater washed away the temporary bridge at Malkhed village on the Khanapur-Panshet Road. Authorities had stated that restoration work would be taken up to restore connectivity, while commuters were advised to use alternate routes.
• Traffic movement may remain slow across low-lying roads, damaged stretches and previously waterlogged junctions due to residual road damage, potholes, wet road conditions and intermittent rainfall. Vulnerable locations include Shahir Amar Shaikh Chowk, Fatimanagar, Bhairobanala Chowk, Radha Hotel Chowk in Baner, North Main Road in Mundhwa, Tadigutta Chowk, Seven Loves Chowk, the stretch beneath Ruby Hall Metro Station, Gunjan Talkies and Rajaram Bridge.
• Rail movement on the Pune-Mumbai corridor is expected to remain disrupted until Friday (17 July) due to landslides and restoration work on the Lonavala-Karjat / Bhor Ghat section. Central Railway has cancelled several long-distance and intercity trains, including major Pune-Mumbai services. Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) is scheduled to operate 200 additional daily bus trips between Pune and Mumbai from Saturday to support affected passengers.
• Pune Metro services continue to operate normally, with no weather-related suspension officially reported. Flight operations at Pune Airport are also expected to continue under normal operations, although temporary weather-related delays cannot be ruled out during periods of reduced visibility, rainfall or thunderstorms.
• Search and rescue operations remain ongoing at the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) waste-to-energy facility in Moshi after a portion of a waste mound collapsed onto a three-storey administrative building during heavy rainfall. Latest reports indicate that nine people have been rescued, one fatality has been confirmed, and rescue teams are continuing efforts for those still missing. Access restrictions and emergency response activity are likely to continue around the site.
• No major telecommunications outage has been officially reported across Pune. However, localized disruption to mobile and broadband services cannot be ruled out in areas affected by prolonged power outages, waterlogging or ongoing utility restoration works.
