As per reports, following are the updates for Tropical Storm Usagi in coasts of Taiwan on Saturday (16 November);
• Typhoon Usagi yesterday (15 November) had weakened into a tropical storm, but a land warning issued by the Central Weather Administration (CWA) was still in effect in four areas in southern Taiwan.
• The CWA urged residents of Kaohsiung, Pingtung County, Taitung County and the Hengchun Peninsula to remain alert due to the storm, even if its intensity was forecast to continue weakening.
• Ships operating south of the Taiwan Strait, off Taiwan’s southeastern coast, in the Bashi Channel and near the Pratas Islands (Dongsha Islands) southwest of Taiwan should have been also advised to proceed with caution.
• CWA has stated that the storm is expected to pass southwest of Taiwan early this morning or noon, then shift northeast, or, under another scenario, turn southwest.
• Despite weakening, Usagi would still bring significant rainfall upon reaching land, with regions south of Hualien County and Kaohsiung expected to receive the heaviest precipitation, till afternoon of Saturday (16 November).
• Extremely heavy rain might fall in mountainous areas of Taitung County, the Hengchun Peninsula and Pingtung County, while regional showers can be expected in Hualien County, low-lying areas in Pingtung County, and on Green and Orchid areas.
• Mandarin Airlines has cancelled flights AE-391 and AE-392, and UNI Air flights B7-8721 and B7-8722 between Taipei Songshan Airport and Taitung Airport, on Saturday (16 November).
• Flights AE-301, AE-302, B7-8911 and B7-8912 between Kaohsiung and Kinmen are canceled on Saturday (16 November), along with AE-331, AE-332, AE-333 and AE-334 between Kaohsiung and Penghu, according to the carriers.
