As per reports, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) following are the latest updates on Tropical Depression “Romina” as of Sunday (22 December):

• Romina was located at 365 km South of Pag-asa Island, Kalayaan, Palawan (outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility or PAR) as of 1100 hours of Sunday (22 December). It is moving North-Northeasward at 30 kilometres per hour, with maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometres per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kilometres per hour.
• Tropical Wind Signal-01 has been issued in the Kalayaan Islands of Luzon.
• Romina is forecast to turn North-Northwestward later on Sunday (22 December), before turning generally West-Northwestward for the remainder of the forecast period. On the forecast track, Romina may pass near the Southern portion of the Kalayaan Islands area in the next 24 hours. A brief entry within the Philippine Area of Responsibility is not ruled out.
• Romina may briefly reach tropical storm category within the next 12 hours before weakening into a tropical depression for the rest of the forecast period.
• A warning for rough seas has been issued on the seaboards of Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, and Kalayaan Islands, where waves of upto 4.5 meters are expected.
• Romina is expected to bring significant rainfall across parts of the Philippines on Monday (23 December). Torrential rainfall (over 200 mm) has been forecast in the Kalayaan Islands, heavy to intense rainfall (100-200 mm) has been forecast in the rest of Palawan, while moderate rainfall (50-100 mm) has been forecast in Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, Antique, Aklan, Capiz, Iloilo, and Northern Samar.
