As per reports, the following are the latest developments pertaining to the Israel Hamas war as of Tuesday (23 July):
• Rocket sirens were reportedly heard late on Monday (22 July) evening in several northern Israeli towns, including Elkosh, Hosen, Peki’in and Tzuriel along the confrontation line. Shortly after, additional sirens were reported in Kisra-Sumei in the Upper Galilee region as well as the nearby town of Fassuta.
• The Israeli artillery struck on the town of Houla in southern Lebanon on Monday (22 July) evening. Subsequently, a barrage of some 10 rockets was fired from Lebanon at the Upper Galilee during the night hours. Hezbollah reportedly took responsibility for the attack, saying it launched dozens of rockets at the northern community of Tzuriel, in response to recent Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) strikes in southern Lebanon that allegedly wounded civilians.
• Hostile aircraft intrusion alerts were also issued for the Galilee Panhandle towns of Beit Hillel, Dafna, HaGoshrim, and Shear Yashuv in northern Israel through Monday (22 July) night.
• The Knesset has approved three bills in the first reading that target the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), allegedly designating the UN agency as a terrorist organization and terminating its activities in Israel.
• Under the proposed legislation, UNRWA will be prohibited from operating any offices, providing services, or conducting activities within the country’s sovereign territory. Additionally, the state will sever all relations with UNRWA, and the UN Privileges and Immunities Order in Israel will no longer apply to the agency, its officials, or its employees.
• Reports indicate that the Israeli military ordered the evacuation on Monday (22 July) as the IDF is about to forcefully operate against Hamas. The IDF has called on the remaining population left in the eastern neighborhoods of Khan Yunis to temporarily evacuate to the adjusted humanitarian area in Al-Mawasi.
• Attacks have been reported on a tent sheltering journalists in Al Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, in central Gaza, killing one journalist and wounding several others on Monday (22 July).
• Reports indicate that Poliovirus has been detected in wastewater in multiple locations of the Gaza Strip, including two major cities in the region including Deir al-Balah in central Gaza and Khan Younis in southern Gaza.
