As per reports, the Powai police has arrested 64 people, including six women on Friday (07 June) in connection to the stone pelting incident at the police and BMC employees during an anti-encroachment drive in Bhim Nagar. They were produced in court, and the court sent them to 14 days of judicial custody.
• The Powai police have also booked more than 200 persons for alleged unlawful assembly and obstructing public servants in the discharge of their duties under Indian Penal Code section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means).
• On Friday (07 June), at least 100 policemen were deployed to bring the situation under control. BMC has stated that approximately 12,000 square metres of land has been cleared of encroachment.
