As per reports, following are the latest updates on the PTI long march to Islamabad as of Friday (18 September):
• PTI has revised its long march strategy, with caravans departing from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday (27 September) expected to travel first via the motorway to Swabi, rather than proceeding directly towards Islamabad.
• If the route remains clear, the caravans are expected to proceed from Swabi towards Haripur, with the situation to be reviewed on Monday (28 September) before a decision is taken on whether to continue towards Islamabad.
• Party sources also said the march could be called off if the demand for daily hearings of cases against PTI founder Imran Khan is accepted.
• In view of the march, authorities have intensified security preparations in Islamabad, with major arteries leading to the capital and entry points to the Red Zone being sealed with shipping containers.
• At least 35,500 security personnel have also been deployed at several key locations across the capital.
• Reports indicate that nearly 1,000 commercial shipping containers have been deployed as roadblocks, raising concerns among transporters over potential disruption to freight operations and cargo movement.
• Further updates remain awaited.
