As per reports on Thursday (15 October), the roof of the Al-Khair Model School in Dir Colony, Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, collapsed while classes were underway, trapping students and school staff beneath the rubble.
• At least 27 students, most of them below the age of 13, and one teacher were reported killed, while more than 20 others were injured.
• Rescue operations are underway, with Pakistan Army personnel and other emergency and relief agencies working to extract those trapped and shift the injured to hospitals.
• As of the latest updates, rescue operations have been hampered by the narrow streets in the area, which have made it difficult for heavy machinery to reach the site.
• Authorities have warned that the death toll may rise, as several children were initially reported to remain trapped beneath the debris. The cause of the collapse remains under investigation.
