As per reports, officials in upstate New York counties have declared a state of emergency for a snowstorm that has already brought over two feet of snowfall in the Midwest and is forecast to impact further as of Saturday (30 November).

Governor Kathy Hochul announced that 11 counties, including Erie County which includes Buffalo, are in a state of emergency until Monday (02 December) as many neighborhoods have already seen a large amount of snowfall. The state of emergency covers Allegany, Erie, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Genesee, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Oswego, St. Lawrence and Wyoming counties.

• The National Guard is on standby and nearly 6,000 utility crews are prepared to repair any downed power lines.
• More than 4,000 state Department of Transportation and Thruway workers prepared including 2,100 snowplows to clear snow.
• The highest snowfall totals are expected around Watertown, New York, where 3 feet to 5 feet of snowfall is in the forecast.
• Travel advisories were issued for Jefferson and Lewis counties, and portions of Erie County.
• Counties in Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania have recorded huge snowfall totals since Friday (29 November).
• Gaylord, Michigan reported 24.8 inches of snow on Friday (29 November).
