As per reports, the following updates have been reported regarding the water supply disruption in Karachi as of Thursday (02 April):
• A major breakdown at the Dhabeji pumping station triggered by a power failure led to the shutdown of multiple pumps, causing extreme pressure fluctuations and resulting in the rupture of a critical 72-inch water pipeline.
• The incident led to the loss of millions of gallons of water, with large volumes spilling into surrounding areas before authorities brought the situation under control.
• Emergency repair operations were initiated immediately, with technical teams deployed to restore the damaged infrastructure; however, recurring power outages at the facility continue to pose risks to system stability.
• The disruption has impacted several densely populated areas, including Korangi, Landhi, Malir, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, and parts of District Central, with residents expected to face severe water shortages for at least 24–48 hours.
• Authorities have advised residents to conserve water, while demand for water tankers is expected to rise significantly amid ongoing supply disruptions.
