As per reports, due to the increasing risk of flooding from the Oder River, significant traffic restrictions have been enforced in Frankfurt (Oder), Germany, and its neighbouring Polish town, Slubice as of Monday (23 September).
• The access to Slubice has been restricted for non-locals to prevent traffic jams and facilitate emergency measures. Transit traffic through Slubice to Germany is prohibited, and travellers are advised to use alternative border crossings. There will be police patrols in many places in the municipality.
• Frankfurt (Oder) is also planning traffic restrictions in urban areas near the riverbank. Tram lines are expected to be diverted. This could affect tram lines two and three in the direction of the European University Viadrina as well as bus lines 983 and 984, according to the city transport company (SVF).
• According to the water level portal of the Brandenburg State Office for the Environment, alarm level three will be reached for Frankfurt (Oder) on Tuesday (24 September), and then the highest level four on Wednesday (25 September) evening. The guideline for declaring alarm level four is a water level in Frankfurt (Oder) of six meters.
