As per reports, following are the latest update on flooding and landslides reported in Nepal as on Monday (28 September):
• A major mountain landslide occurred near Lete in Mustang District, discharging heavy rock debris directly into the Kali Gandaki River and temporarily obstructing water flow before the river cut through the blockage.
• Rain-induced landslides and floods have resulted in at least 24 dead and 14 missing nationwide as of Monday (28 September).
• In Baglung district, landslides buried multiple homes, resulting in 10 fatalities across Tamankhola and Nisikhola rural municipalities.
• River erosion along the Kali Gandaki River completely swept away several houses at Pharse in Jaljala Rural Municipality-08 (Parbat district) and destroyed a key concrete bridge linking Syangja and Gulmi districts.
• Active landslides and structural damage along major national highways have blocked over a dozen road corridors leading toward Chitwan and neighboring hubs, hindering emergency transit.
• Damaged transmission towers along the Kali Gandaki Corridor and generation halts at the 144-megawatt Kali Gandaki ‘A’ Hydropower Project have disrupted regional electricity distribution.
• In Gulmi, traffic along the Kaligandaki Corridor Road, the district’s third main thoroughfare, has been halted for five days due to a major landslide at Rakse in Kaligandaki Rural Municipality-02, alongside multiple road collapses throughout the Gulmi stretch.
• The Rudrabeni-Wami Taksar road section has been completely blocked for four days following a massive landslide at Sisnebhir in Chandrakot Rural Municipality-07.
• Traffic along the Indregaunda-Ratdanda-Tamghas road came to a complete halt on Sunday (27 September) after a major landslip at Taukhola in Musikot Municipality-03.
