The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall across several parts of Nepal from Friday to Sunday (25–27 September).
The following are additional details:
• Gandaki and Lumbini provinces are expected to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall, while parts of Madhesh, Koshi, Bagmati and Sudurpashchim may also receive heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds. Some areas of Karnali are also likely to receive heavy rainfall.
• The DHM warned that rising water levels in major rivers and streams may cause flooding in urban settlements and low-lying Terai areas, while landslides, soil erosion and debris flows remain a risk in hilly and mountainous regions.
