As per reports, several rallies are scheduled from Sunday (31 August) till Tuesday (02 September) amid the ongoing Dharmasthala row in Karnataka. Members of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal (Secular) (JD(S)) are scheduled to organise separate rallies.
• Members of JD(S) are expected to reach Dharmasthala by Sunday (31 August) morning while members of BJP are scheduled to stage the rally on Monday (01 September).
• The JD(S) rally has been flagged off from Bengaluru and members from across the state are currently on the way to Dharmasthala. They will stage a padyatra (Foot March) from Netravathi bathing point to Dharmasthala.
• BJP members will stage a ‘Dharmasabha’ (Hindu religious congregation) at Dharmasthala on Monday (01 September). Thousands of participants are expected to join from Mysore and over 15,000 people are expected to gather from across the state. The exact timing for the start of rally has not been announced but it is likely to commence in the morning hours as the gathering at Dharmasthala is expected at 1400 hours.
• BJP will organise a major gathering at 1400 hours in Dharmasthala on Monday (01 September). The exact location of the gathering is yet to be confirmed but the number of participants is likely to amount to a few thousands.
• Additionally, the Dharmasthala Bhaktara Okkoota (Federation of Dharmasthala Devotees), Mysuru will stage a demonstration in Dharmasthala on Tuesday (02 September). The exact timing has not been announced but the same can be expected to commence in the morning hours. Around 1,000 people representing various organisations, including hotel owners, social activists, women’s groups and others, are expected to travel to Dharmasthala. The protest will be held under the banner ‘Heggade Avare, Nimondige Naviddeve’ (Mr. Heggade, we are with you). Protesters will depart from Nanjaraja Bahadur Choultry in Mysuru on Tuesday (02 September) and proceed to Dharmasthala for the demonstration. They will also meet Mr. Heggade after the protest.
