According to reports, the Department of Health (DOH) in the Philippines has reported 3,147 new COVID-19 infections between 26 December and 01 January. The average daily new cases over the past week were 449, showing a 10 percent decrease compared to the average of 501 cases reported between 19 and 25 December.
The DOH confirmed 13 new deaths during this period, bringing the country’s fatality rate to 1.6 percent. Currently, there are 5,310 active cases nationwide. The occupancy of non-ICU beds for COVID-19 cases reached a maximum of 19 percent, averaging 17 percent between November and December 2023.
