As per reports, the Málaga province has been issued a red alert by the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) for heavy rainfall and flooding, which will be in effect from 1000 hours (local time) until 2359 hours (local time) on Wednesday (13 November).

• All the schools in Malaga and Granada will be closed on Wednesday (13 November) as a result of the heavy rainfall and flooding that is expected.
• The red warning has been issued for the areas of Costa del Sol and Guadalhorce and Axarquía, and Tarragona (southern part), where an accumulation of water of 120 liters per square meter is expected in the first twelve hours.
• In the regions of Sol and Guadalhorce, an orange warning will be issued in advance from 0300 hours (local time) on Wednesday (13 November), where an accumulation of 40 litres per square metres is anticipated, while in Axarquía, the orange warning will be activated at 0400 hours (local time) on Wednesday (13 November), where 50 litres per square metres accumulation is anticipated.
• The Andalusian Government has activated the ESAlert system, warning all Malaga residents affected by the red alert to take extreme caution during the heavy rainfall and flooding in these areas.
• The Minister of the Presidency and Interior, Antonio Sanz, announced that the situation in the province and Granada has increased from a Pre-emergency to an Operational Situation One.
