As per reports, members affiliated with SuPer union and Tehy Union announced a political strike between Wednesday (31 January) and Thursday (01 February) for all public or private workplaces in early childhood education in Helsinki, Espoo, Grankulla, and Vantaa to protest the government’s planned labor market reforms and will be a part of the nationwide strikes.

The political strike applies to all work shifts that begin between 0559 hours local time on Wednesday (31 January) and at 2059 hours local time on Thursday (01 February). The strike lasts until the end of the shift.

• Reports indicate that the SuPer union clarified that the strike will not affect services such as 24-hour daycare centers, home family day care, group family day care, private family day care or care assistance services.
• The trade union Tehy for employees in social and health care and the educational field decided on a two-day strike, which will begin on Wednesday (31 January) at 0600 hours local time and end on Thursday (01 February) at 2100 hours local time.
