As per reports, a truck crashed on the Bass Highway opposite to the Ampol Wattle Hill service station at Latrobe in Tasmania at around 0430 hours local time on Thursday (04 January) carrying ferric chloride solution. Sections of the highway between Moriarty Road and Oppenheims Road are to remain close for several hours while the hazardous material is cleaned from the roadways by the emergency service and the Tasmania Fire Service.

Residents in the area between Speedway Drive and Oppenheims Road in Latrobe have a risk of exposure and are asked to remain indoors, while non- residents are advised to stay away from the area.
