As per reports, people visiting the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) have been advised to be vigilant regarding the emergence of tropical cyclone seeds in the Indian Ocean south of Java in early February 2025.
• The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) previously issued an early warning regarding the potential for increased wind speeds and potential hydrometeorological disasters in the Central Java-Yogyakarta area from 01-03 February due to the emergence of tropical cyclone seeds in the Indian Ocean, south of Java.
• The cyclone can potentially lead to wind deflection patterns and trigger an increase in regional rainfall above average throughout February.
• The increased rainfall to the moderate and heavy category has caused the potential for hydrometeorological disasters such as landslides, floods and fallen trees. The emergence of this cyclone is also predicted to affect the height of sea waves between 3-5 meters along the southern coast of Yogyakarta.
