As per reports, the Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC), in coordination with the Rajkot City Police Department, has ordered the temporary suspension of traffic signal operations across Rajkot City, Gujarat, from 1300 hours to 1600 hours (local time) on Saturday (14 March) due to prevailing heatwave conditions.
The measure has been implemented to reduce prolonged exposure of motorists to extreme heat while waiting at traffic intersections.
• Authorities stated that temperatures in the city have remained high over the past week, increasing health risks for commuters exposed to direct sunlight.
• Under this arrangement, traffic signals across the city will remain switched off during the specified afternoon hours to facilitate smoother vehicle movement and minimize waiting time at junctions.
