The Mumbai Traffic Police has announced traffic regulations in parts of Mumbai to accommodate the traffic flow during the ongoing Ganesh idol immersion scheduled between Friday (18 September) and Saturday (26 September).
The key immersion days during which traffic movement is expected to be affected are Friday (18 September), Saturday (19 September), Sunday (20 September) and Friday (25 September). The following traffic regulations will be observed:
• The section between the L&T Flyover and the IIT Market Gate within the jurisdiction of the Saki Naka Traffic Division will also remain under no parking zone.
• Travellers have been urged to maintain orderly movement on JVLR near immersion ghat entrances, and keep access routes clear for emergency vehicles, including ambulances and fire tenders.
• As per reports, heavy vehicles will not be allowed to operate on Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road (JVLR) from 1600 hours (local time) on Friday (18 September) to 0500 hours (local time) on Saturday (19 September); from 1600 hours (local time) on Saturday (19 September) to 0500 hours (local time) on Sunday (20 September); and from 1000 hours (local time) on Friday (25 September) until 1200 hours (local time) on Saturday (26 September). An official confirmation of the restriction timing is awaited.
• Heavy vehicles approaching the JVLR from the Eastern Express Highway may have to continue their journey along the Eastern Express Highway, and those coming from the Western Express Highway will similarly have to continue along the Western Express Highway.
