According to reports, Trinamool Congress (TMC) Member of Parliament (MP) Abhishek Banerjee on Saturday (07 November) stated that Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) supporters attacked his Kalighat Road residence in the early hours of the day.
• The allegation came amid reports of a late-night clash between BJP and TMC supporters outside his residence, following which police intervened to bring the situation under control.
• Meanwhile, the Kolkata Police have decided to strictly enforce Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) outside Abhishek Banerjee’s residence. The provision had already been imposed in the surrounding area since October.
