The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued the following Forecast and Nowcast warnings for Tamil Nadu on Saturday (07 November).
• Forecast: A yellow alert for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and squalls has been issued across all districts of Tamil Nadu.
• Nowcast: As per the IMD, an orange alert for moderate rainfall ranging between five and 15 millimetres per hour and moderate thunderstorms with maximum surface wind speeds ranging between 41 and 61 kilometres per hour in gusts has been issued for Tiruvallur, Chennai, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, Viluppuram, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, Pudukkottai, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, Kanniyakumari, Ramanathapuram and Sivaganga. The alert is valid until 0400 hours (local time) on Saturday (07 November).
• Nowcast: As per the IMD, a yellow alert for light thunderstorms with maximum surface wind speeds below 40 kilometres per hour and moderate rainfall ranging between five and 15 millimetres per hour has been issued for Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Karur, Dindigul, Theni, Virudhunagar and Thoothukudi. The alert is valid until 0400 hours (local time) on Saturday (07 November).
