As per reports, Kohima police has issued a traffic advisory for the upcoming Hornbill Festival from Sunday (01 December) to Tuesday (10 December).

• No heavy vehicles will be allowed to enter Kohima from 0700-2200 hours from Sunday (01 December) to Tuesday (10 December). All heavy vehicles will be stopped at Peducha and Khuzama inter-state check gate.
• Vehicles with a valid car pass issued by Nagaland Police Headquarters (PHQ) will only be allowed to enter Kohima heritage village from National Highway (NH) gate number one.
• Exit for vehicles parked at/near gate number two from Kisama Heritage Village will be –
• Via Imagiland for Souther/Manipur bound vehicles. Via Rhododendron resort – NH for Kohima bound vehicles, for vehicles with car passes. Vehicles of event managers/vendors parked at Amphitheatre Heritage will be allowed movement through gate two before 0900 hours and after 1600 hours. However, during the time period, their vehicles will exit through via Rhododendron resort – NH for Kohima.
• Vehicles with car passes will be parked at the parking area Kisama (opposite gate two). All vehicles without car passes will park their vehicles at Kigwema public ground.
• Free shuttle bus service will be provided from the parking area (Kigwema public ground) to the venue (Kisama) and also from Kisama venue to Kigwema public ground (parking area).
• Alternate route for vehicles from Dimapur/Chumoukedima to Hornbill festival will be via Old KMC check gate – Jotsoma – Nagaland College of Music and Fine Arts – Forest Colony – BSNL exchange – Cathedral – Aradura Inn – Phesama – Kisama. Passengers vehicles have been advised to avoid traffic congestion. Direction boards at appropriate locations will be installed to guide travellers.
• Vehicle owners are advised to keep their contact numbers pasted on the windshield of their vehickes during parking at Kigwema Public Ground and other places.
• Vehicles parked on the NH within ROW between Phesama check gate and venue (Kisama) will be towed without further warnings as per the provision of section 127 MV Act. Vehicle owners will be responsible for all towing costs and will be penalized INR 500 under 201 MV Act.
• Alignment point is scheduled around 350 metres from gate one Kisama towards Kigwema village. ANTA vehicles/privates may drop the passenger at this point and passengers may proceed to Kisama venue by foot.
• Pick-up point for ANTA vehicles / taxis will be at Kigwema public ground where travellers can board ANTA vehicles for their destination to town.
• Any individual/department intending to operate drone during the festival at the venue are advised to obtain prior permission from the PHQ. Offenders will be prosecuted as per law.
• Kohima police has also advised visitors to the Hornbill Festival to carpool whenever possible.
