As per reports, the Visakhapatnam City Police have issued a traffic advisory restricting vehicle entries between NTR Statue Junction to Park Hotel Junction from Tuesday (31 December) 2024 to Wednesday (01 January) 2025, including safety measures ahead of the New Year’s Eve celebrations on Beach Road stretch. Following are the additional details :
• From 2100 hours on Tuesday (31 December) 2024 to 0500 hours on Wednesday (01 January) 2025, the middle lane from Hanumanthawaka to Adavivara, Gosala Junction to Vepagunta Junction, and Pendurthi to Convent Junction via NAD Junction in BRS Road will be closed. Similarly, Telugu Thali Flyover including Maddilapalem to Rama Talkies will remain closed during the same time. While emergency vehicles are directed to use service roads.
• The entire Beach Road stretch will be under strict surveillance with drones to monitor the crowd, hence the public is advised to use designated parking spots and refrain from swimming in the sea or using firecrackers.
• A special “She-Teams” will reportedly patrol the area to protect women and address cases of alleged eve-teasing or harassment during the celebrations, subject to which strict actions will be taken.
• Traffic police will also conduct drunken driving checks at multiple locations, following which vehicles of offenders will be seized, and violators may appear in court while potential repeat offenders may face jail time or community service. Meanwhile, individuals caught overspeeding, triple-riding, driving without helmets or creating public nuisance will reportedly face legal actions, including vehicle seizure and suspension of driving license.
• Furthermore, police personnel will be deployed across the city to monitor activities to ensure a safe New Year’s Eve celebration.
