As per reports, citizen initiatives protesting transit traffic volume and the proposed Fernpass tunnel project have organized registered demonstrations resulting in full road closures along key Alpine transit routes in Tyrol on Saturday (01 August).
• The B 179 Fernpassstraße is scheduled to be completely closed to all vehicular traffic in both directions between 0945 hours local time and 1200 hours local time (0745 hours UTC to 1000 hours UTC) on Saturday (01 August).
• Affected road sections along the B 179 include Reutte/Katzenberg in the Reutte district and Nassereith/Rastland in the Imst district.
• Concurrently, the L 246 Hahntennjochstraße is also scheduled to be closed to all vehicular traffic between the same hours in the morning to prevent drivers from using it as an immediate secondary bypass.
• Regional authorities in Tyrol have prohibited transit traffic diversions through local municipal roads in the Reutte district, including the L 69 Reuttener Straße and L 288 Pinswanger Straße, to protect local communities.
• The affected areas include Reutte, Katzenberg, Nassereith, Rastland, Heiterwang, Biberwier, and Imst along the B 179 and L 246 corridors in Tyrol, Austria.
