As per reports from Muscat Municipality on Thursday (30 July), a total traffic closure was announced for Al Jabal Street (Aqabat Al Amerat) in cooperation with the Royal Oman Police. The closure applies strictly to vehicular traffic traveling from Al Amerat Governorate toward Busher Governorate.
• The road closure commenced on the evening of Thursday (30 July) and is scheduled to remain in effect until the evening of Saturday (01 August).
• The measures were implemented to allow engineering crews to execute essential infrastructure maintenance works and complete the removal of fallen rocks along the side protection barriers to ensure safety standards.
• Reports indicate that municipal authorities and traffic police have urged all motorists and transport operators traveling between Al Amerat and Busher to exercise caution, strictly adhere to posted traffic directives, and utilize designated alternative roadways during the closure window.
• Alternate routes connecting the two governorates include the Al Amerat–Wadi Adai road network, which is expected to accommodate redirected traffic volumes.
• Maintenance personnel continue rock clearing and barrier reinforcement efforts along the mountain pass to mitigate future geological hazards.
