As per reports, all teachers, administrative staff, and technical personnel within the Wallonia-Brussels Federation have been called to participate in a one-day strike action across Wallonia and Brussels on Tuesday (26 November).
• This action coincides with the parliamentary review of the 2025 draft budget, which has drawn criticism from unions due to proposed measures that they argue will deteriorate the education sector.
• Key grievances include the elimination of teacher status in favor of permanent contracts, projected reductions in funding for vocational education potentially impacting at least 500 jobs, and budget cuts for Wallonia-Brussels Education (WBE) establishments.
• The unions have organized widespread demonstrations, including picket lines in front of schools and leaflet distribution in city centres across Wallonia and Brussels, to highlight these concerns. Despite the anticipated disruption, schools are required to provide daycare services on the strike day, ensuring minimal impact on childcare.
