As per reports, a large-scale teacher demonstration is scheduled to take place today, Monday (10 November), in Liège to protest the austerity measures proposed by the Government of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation.
• The event is scheduled to begin at 1000 hours local time (0900 hours UTC) at Place du XX Août, where hundreds, possibly thousands of teachers from all school networks are expected to gather.
• The unions have announced a joint demonstration and symbolic actions at key educational and cultural landmarks, including the University of Liège, Liège Cathedral, and the Opera House. The march is expected to move from the university towards the cathedral and end at the opera building, symbolically denouncing what the unions describe as “cuts that threaten free access to education.”
