Situational update on truck bomb attack reported near police command in Cucuta on Saturday (01 August)

As per reports, a truck carrying explosives detonated near the Norte de Santander Police Command in Cúcuta, Colombia, at approximately 0300 hours local time (0800 hours UTC) on Saturday (01 August).

• Reports indicate that the explosion occurred near the Central de Abastos commercial area and damaged surrounding buildings and vehicles. Emergency personnel and security forces responded to the affected location. At least 11 people, including eight police officers and three civilians, sustained injuries. The affected individuals received treatment at nearby medical facilities.
• Security forces cordoned off the surrounding area to conduct explosive-ordnance inspections, collect evidence and assess the possibility of additional devices. No group had claimed responsibility for the attack at the time of reporting.
