As per reports, on Tuesday (17 June) at approximately 0140 hours (local time), two oil tankers collided in the Gulf of Oman, around 22 nautical miles off the coast of Khorfakkan in the United Arab Emirates.
• The incident involved the American oil tanker Front Eagle and Adeline, a vessel flagged under Antigua and Barbuda.
• Following the collision, a large fire broke out on the vessels, prompting immediate rescue efforts.
• UAE authorities confirmed that all 24 crew members aboard the two ships were safely rescued.
• Preliminary assessments indicate that the collision occurred after Front Eagle, which was transporting crude oil northward at 12.8 knots, suddenly slowed to 0.6 knots and veered into Adeline’s path.
• Reports suggest that the likely cause of the incident is engine failure or a malfunction in the navigational equipment on the American vessel.
