As per reports, the Davis Fire, which started south of Reno, has rapidly burned over 3,300 acres as of Sunday (08 September) and continues to pose a significant threat, with no containment progress reported. The fire continues to burn aggressively due to prevailing wind conditions, with flare-ups expected to persist through Sunday (08 September).

In response to the fire’s rapid spread, evacuation orders have been issued for the communities of St. James Village, Galena, and areas south of Mt. Rose Highway.

• To mitigate the risk of further ignitions, Nevada Energy has implemented a de-energization strategy affecting approximately 18,700 customers. Power remains off in the areas south of Mt. Rose Highway as of the latest update.
• Interstate 580, which was initially closed, has since reopened. However, Highway 395A in Washoe Valley remains closed, and Mt. Rose Highway and Highway 431 are closed northbound from I-580 to the Summit and southbound at Mt. Rose Summit.
